We were very pleased to be invited along to the National Trust Weir Garden at Swainshill for their Open Day. It was a bright but cold afternoon but that didn’t put us off.
On arrival we were greeted by Chris Strong, Visitor Experience Manager, who made us feel very welcome with a cup of tea and a selection of cakes.
Chris gave a quick overview of the gardens and he handed us maps of all the walks we could enjoy, this included a visit to the walled gardens which were developed in the 1920s which included a stunning greenhouse, in which Caroline soon found some plants to purchase. The gardens were bursting with spring flowers and lots more bulbs starting to poke through the soil in the warm sunshine. Our walk included some stunning views along the River Wye of the unspoilt Herefordshire countryside.
The Weir Garden is a wonderful riverside garden which includes a picnic area and plenty of space for the children to play in with ample parking facilities too. Please take a look at their website for more information.
