Following our Big Tea in aid of St Michael’s Hospice, Hereford last summer,  we were delighted to be invited to join them for tea and cakes and a tour of the hospice as a thank you for our fundraising efforts.

The event was well attended by all the other businesses and supporters who had held a Big Tea to raise money on behalf of the hospice. We were greeted on arrival by the Community Fundraising Manager, Paddy Nugent,  along with Mike Keel, Chief Executive of the Hospice and Gaynor Warren, Community and Events Fundraising Assistant. A truly wonderful spread of cakes was provided, all made by members of the hospice staff – and plenty of tea to hand.

Paddy then gave us an update on how the fundraising and modernisation of the hospice was progressing. He was delighted to inform us that the day centre next door (which was the old hospice) would be opening in April. It will  be offering a broad range of services to the hospice community – all very exciting.

Gaynor gave us the fantastic news that the Big Tea events throughout 2015 had raised to date a whopping £30,000 plus and that money is still being donated.

We were later split into four groups and were shown around the hospice which is a truly magnificent building which has been built to consider every possible eventuality, not just for patients but for families and friends who use the facility at an extremely difficult time of their lives. The use of special acoustics for sound proofing and clever use of colours and materials is really stunning and very well thought out.

Huge thank you Mike,Paddy, Gaynor and all the volunteers who looked after us, we here at Kidwells Group are looking forward to working with the Hospice in the future.
